2 adults chest-deep. The tub is 1.8m long Γ— 0.61m wide Γ— 0.61m deep β€” long enough to lie back in.

If you want something a small group can sit in together, look at the round pool tanks (Family Plunge fits 5 adults, Urban Plunge fits 3) β€” though those run on a pump and filter and serve a different use case.

Three main use cases β€” and a lot of customers use it for two or all three.

Cold plunge β€” fill from the cold tap, add ice if you want a colder session, get in. The water temperature you start at is the temperature your cold tap delivers (typically 12–22Β°C in Australia depending on season and state). It's already plunge temperature in winter; in summer, ice gets it down further.

Outdoor bath β€” fill from a hot tap if you have outdoor plumbing, pre-heat water indoors and bucket-transfer it, or use a portable electric heater (customer-supplied). Soak the way you would in a clawfoot bath, but outside.

Home gym recovery β€” pair it with a sauna for a contrast routine, or use it on its own as part of a post-workout cooldown.

The tub itself is the same in all three cases. What changes is how you fill it.

Cold tap water in Australia typically arrives at 12–22Β°C depending on season and state. That's already plunge temperature in winter and shoulder seasons.

For colder water (sub-10Β°C) in summer, add ice. A 5–10kg bag from the servo, or a freezer's worth of ice blocks, drops the temperature significantly for a single session. Plunge first, refreeze the blocks for next time.

There's no built-in chiller on this product. Without active chilling, water gradually warms toward ambient over a few hours β€” most cold-plunge users empty after each session, or plunge first thing in the morning before the day heats the water up.

If you want active chilling for daily summer use, you'd source a separate cold-plunge chiller (they exist on the Australian market β€” we don't currently stock one).

Three options:

1. Siphon it out. Run a standard garden hose from inside the tub to a drainage point lower than the tub (a garden bed, gutter, or grate). Start the siphon and gravity does the rest.

2. Use the drain plug. The tub has a drain plug at the back. If you site the tub on a base with built-in drainage (a slight slope, or a paver setup with a gap underneath), pull the plug and let it empty.

3. Permanent plumbed install: If you want this set up as a permanent outdoor bath rather than a fill-and-drain, hire a plumber to connect the tub to outdoor hot and cold taps and a drain line β€” same as any other outdoor tub. The tub supports it. Terra Tanks doesn't offer plumbing as a service, so this step is on the customer.

Refill is a standard garden hose to a comfortable use level β€” 20–40 minutes depending on tap pressure. For frequent use, drain after each session the way you'd drain a clawfoot bath. For multiple sessions in the same day, leave the water in and run the cover between uses.

Anywhere reasonably level with enough load capacity.

Safe surfaces: gravel, pavers, concrete, compacted earth, slate, AND a timber deck. Unlike the Off-Grid Wood Fired Hot Tub (which produces an open fire under the coil and cannot go on timber), the Recovery Tub has no fire and no power β€” it's safe to sit on any surface that can carry the weight.

Filled to use level the tub holds about 550L. With one person inside, that's roughly 600kg total. Most residential decks rated for 200kg/mΒ² or higher carry this without a problem; if your deck is old, undersized, or you're not sure of the rating, check it before you fill (or position the tub directly above a load-bearing post).

Indoor use: technically possible on a load-bearing concrete or tiled floor with drainage, but most customers use the tub outdoors. The cover keeps it clean between sessions.

Often treated as an outdoor bath, which in many areas means no pool fence, but confirm with your council before you install. Because the tub can hold water deeper than 300mm, some councils instead treat any tub that deep as a spa or pool, which can mean a barrier, a certified child-resistant cover, or registration. The UV cover we supply keeps the water clean; it is not a certified child-resistant safety cover. Whether the outdoor-bath classification applies to your setup is a call only your local council can confirm, so please check first. It is the owner's responsibility.

General information only, not legal advice.

Galvanised steel is the same material used on American farms for decades β€” built to live outside.

Over time, the exterior develops a natural matte patina. Many customers like the look. If you'd prefer a finished colour, our Custom Colour Coating seals the exterior in any tone you choose using Raptor coating β€” the same finish used on off-road vehicles.

To keep the tub in great shape long-term:
- If you're using it as a cold plunge with no chemicals, the inside stays clean as long as you drain after each session.

- If you're adding chlorine for between-session water (rare on this product), ask us about how to use minimal chlorine levels. Over-chlorinating accelerates wear on any galvanised surface.

- Avoid scraping, scoring, or sharp impacts to the interior β€” the galvanised coating is the protective layer.

- Use the included UV cover when the tub isn't in use.

Looked after, the tub lasts for years. Used outside the care guidelines, you'll see wear faster β€” same as any galvanised steel product.

Note: the Premium Vinyl Pool Liner sold for the round pool tanks is not compatible with this oval tub. The shape is wrong and we don't make a liner for the oval.

The tub walls take on the temperature of whatever's inside, plus or minus the surface temperature from sun or shade.

In summer with the cover off in direct midday sun, the steel rim can warm up β€” same as any uncovered metal surface. Throw a shade sail or keep the cover on between sessions and the rim stays comfortable.

In winter with cold water inside, the steel runs cold β€” that's normally a feature, not a bug, on a cold plunge. If you're using it as an outdoor bath in winter, the steel cools the water faster than a clawfoot bath would, so plan to soak earlier in your fill rather than letting it sit.

For sit-on-the-edge comfort year-round, a wooden bench or a folded towel along the rim does the trick.

Two strategies, depending on use:

For cold plunging (the most common): drain after each session and refill from the tap before next use. Clean fresh water every time. No chemicals.

For multi-session use across a single day: keep the cover on between sessions. The cover keeps debris out and slows temperature drift. For outdoor bath use across consecutive days, drain and refill β€” the same way you'd empty a clawfoot bath.

If you've plumbed it in as a permanent outdoor bath: the cleanliness logic is the same as any outdoor bathtub β€” drain after each soak via your plumbed drain line. No filtration system needed.

Across most of Australia, freezing isn't a real concern.

Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, most of VIC and SA: cold winter mornings sit above freezing, and a tub used at least once a week effectively never freezes. Standard practice β€” drain after each session β€” keeps the issue moot.

For alpine or sub-zero areas, drain after each session as a default. If you're leaving water in for repeat sessions across a freezing-overnight period, leave the cover off (a frozen surface doesn't damage the tub) or drop the level so any expansion has somewhere to go.

We offer a 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee.

If you don't love your tub, return it within 30 days of delivery β€” even if you've already used it β€” for a full refund of the purchase price. The only condition: you cover the cost of returning the tub to our nearest metro warehouse.

If your order arrives damaged, faulty, or not as described, that's separate β€” we'll repair, replace, or refund under your Australian Consumer Law rights regardless of timing. Email hello@terratanks.com.au and we'll sort it.

Select the "Custom Colour Upgrade" add-on option before checkout.

We coat the exterior using Raptor coating β€” the same ultra-durable finish used on off-road vehicles. It's built to handle harsh outdoor conditions without chipping or fading.

After placing your order, send your colour code to hello@terratanks.com.au β€” a Dulux or Colorbond reference works, or even a photo.
